Get Battlefield 3 Free on Origin Until June 3rd
Right now you can get a standard copy of Battlefield 3 completely free on EA’s digital distribution platform Origin. According to the game’s listing on Origin, the cost is at a 100% discount off the regular $19.99.
Battlefield 3 is the latest title to be released for free on Origin’s “On the House” promotional program. Plants vs. Zombies Game of the Year edition is also currently available free until June 16. Previously, EA had released Dead Space for free through their “On the House” promotional. If you manage to download the game anytime betweeen now and June 3rd players will be able to keep the game on their Origin account forever (Or at least until the servers shut down.)
Not quite a lot more to say on the matter as there’s really no catch to the free game beyond the time needed to download and try Origin for yourself (though some critics would say that’s a catch in of itself.)
Battlefield 3 is a first-person shooter released in 2011 and has five expansion packs that won’t be included in the standard edition of the game. However, those packs can all be bought together if you deign to purchase the Premium Edition of the game currently available for $39.99. Currently the game has a Metacritic score of 89% and a user score of 7.4.
Battlefield 4, the latest iteration of the franchise, was released last year for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC. Battlefield 4 is also available for purchase on Origin though it runs on the decidedly higher price point of $49.99 at the moment.
EA’s “On the House” promo will continue to feature free downloads of other games for the foreseeable future if you’re interested in other titles.
