Halo: Master Chief Collection Detailed
Microsoft have revealed that they are in fact releasing Halo: Master Chief Collection later this year. The game was originally leaked earlier this month but the Xbox manufacturer has now officially confirmed its existence.
The trailer above mixes footage showing a famous scene from Halo 2 where Master Chief uses an alien bomb to blow up a Covenant ship with snippets from the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians.. The cut scene has been completely re-worked by Blur, and gives an indication of how polished the rest of the cinematics in Halo 2 will look in the new collection.
As part of the Master Chief collection players will get immediate access to all games, levels, modes and difficulties. Each game is built using the same engine that originally powered the titles, meaning that they will play exactly as they did in their initial forms. This also applied to the multiplayer components so that each game will play exactly as they did upon their original releases.
The included games are those featuring Master Chief, Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4. Halo 3 and 4 will each get minor graphical improvements to bring them to 60 frames per second and full 1080p visuals. Halo: CE meanwhile will get the same treatment it had for the Halo: CE Anniversary title released in 2012. Halo 2 will have a similar upgrade, with completely reworked visuals and sounds that can be turned on and off instantly.
As an added bonus players will also get access to a Halo 5 beta that will launch in December and Halo: Nightfall. This is a new weekly live-action series produced by Ridley Scott that will look at some of the characters that will appear in Halo 5. For those who like achievements, the package comes with 4000 Gamerscore with brand new achievements for each title.
The collection will hit store shelves 11 November for $59.99 on Xbox One with Halo 5: Guardians to follow next year.
