Prepare to Escape Dead Island
Prepare to Escape Dead Island is what PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners can expect to be doing later in the year as the next game in the Dead Island series arrives to bridge the gap, in terms of the story, between Dead Island and the forthcoming Dead Island 2. Publisher Deep Silver today announced Escape Dead Island, a “survival-mystery game”.
Announced on the European PlayStation Blog, Escape Dead Island promises to offer a “fresh perspective on the Dead Island universe”. The game will also explain the origins of the virus that affects the events of the Dead Island games. Developer Deep Silver are focusing on making Escape Dead Island a story-driven single player 3rd person game – a far cry from the series’ usual first-person shooter with a focus on co-operative play.
It’s an interesting move to expand the Dead Island franchise, alongside the ‘ZOMBA’ Dead Island: Epidemic. Escape Dead Island also offers some gorgeous and wonderfully bright comic-book style graphics. The trailer, which can be seen below, showcases both indoor and outdoor environments as well as a good look at lead character Cliff Calo.
According to the blog post from Deep Silver, the all-new island can be freely explored similarly to Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, and will involve sneaking/stealth missions as you adventure through the tropical locale. Deep Silver hints at some of the possible experiences that could be involved in Escape Dead Island, asking “What are the true origins of the virus? What is real in this bizarre place? What are you going to believe?”.
Escape Dead Island launches for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year – we’ll have more information as it becomes available, but for now enjoy this announcement trailer and some official screenshots.
