Sony released details about the next PlayStation 4 system update
It’s long been known that the next software update for the PlayStation 4 will introduce a number of key features, such as Share Play and YouTube support, but Sony has now given out much more detail about the system changes that will come with the update on their official blog. Most of the changes add new features that that improve the experience for users and add brand new features that arte not currently available. The full list of features includes:
- USB Music Player
- Change colors
- Players You May Know
- Enhancements to Live Broadcasting
- Content Area and Library
- Enhanced Voice Commands
- Add To Library
- Back Up Data
The USB Music Player will allow PlayStation 4 users to play music from any USB devices when they are playing games and it supports formats such as MP3, MP4 and M4A. Suggestions will also be given in your friends list to other players on the PlayStation Network who you might know or by recommending players who your friends regularly play with. The enhanced voice commands also offer PS4 owners the ability to see a full list of all the possible actions they can perform with their voice and to start and end broadcasts.
The news follows todays Xbox One October update that released for Microsoft’s own next generation console. The dashboard update introduced a number of brand new features such as the ability to find a lost controller by making it vibrate. Other improvements include changes to the overall UI and most noticeable the Snap Center which now lets you quickly look at your friends, messages, achievements and game DVR without having to exit your current app. Microsoft has also optimized several other apps so that the console should run far smoother than previously. Those wanting MKV and DLNA support will also be happy as the console can now playback media in those formats.
