Assassin’s Creed Victory Leaks, Confirmed By Ubisoft For 2015
Following the colossal failure that was the uber buggy launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity last month, Ubisoft have a new issue – next years’ Assassin’s Creed has been leaked, set in 19th Century Victorian London and entitled Assassin’s Creed Victory. The leak originally sprang from Kotaku (they have screenshots too) and was later confirmed to be legitimate, confirmed by an Ubisoft statement.
Kotaku reports that they’ve seen Victory in action; notable details include battles on top of moving vehicles and large indoor spaces (in this case a train station) that allow the as yet un-named assassin to use a new grappling hook to move around in what sounds like a similar manner to the Batman: Arkham games.
Kotaku reports that Victory will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC next fall. The title will also be the first fully-fledged Assassin’s Creed title to be developed predominantly by Ubisoft Quebec rather than Ubisoft Montreal. Ubisoft Quebec’s previous Assassin’s Creed works include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s Freedom Cry DLC and Assassin’s Creed II’s The Tyranny of King Washington. It looks like Ubisoft may alternate between studios for the annual Assassin’s Creed releases in the same manner as Activision does with the Call of Duty series.
The leak was originally documented yesterday, followed up by the following official response to various media outlets from Ubisoft;
It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin’s Creed Unity for players.
Following the much discussed state of Assassin’s Creed Unity at launch, which led to the Unity Season Pass content being offered for free with consumers who purchased the pass now eligible for a free Ubisoft game, this is yet another serious knock back for Ubisoft.
What do you make of the leak? Are you excited for the London based Victory, or still disappointed by the state Unity released in? Let us know in the forums.
