Chris Evans Stars in Call of Duty Online: The Live-Action Trailer
A new live-action trailer for Call of Duty Online starring Captain America himself, Chris Evans, has found its way online. The new video is available below.
For those who are unaware, Call of Duty Online is a new game that is being released exclusively as a free-to-play game in China only. The game is developed by Activision Shanghai and Raven Software. Call of Duty Online has been in open beta since January 2013 and will be available as a free-to-play title for the PC with micro-transactions. Players will be able to customize their character avatars and weapons. Survival Mode from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also be available in the game along with characters from previous installments in the franchise.
In the new trailer, four hotel workers are transported from their mundane hotel job to a real-life Call of Duty world, where the quartet are led into battle by Chris Evans, who shows up with a giant rocket launcher to shoot down an enemy chopper. One would-be soldier remarks, “Who does he think he is? Some kind of Hollywood action hero?” Evans along with the group engage in combat with against an army of soldiers followed by a group of deadly cyborg zombie warriors, including one particular giant one. A montage of footage for the game for the game’s cyborg zombie mode, called Cyborg Rising, is also featured in the trailer. The trailer ends with a fun punchline of two of the players discussing the “foreign guy” (Evans), only for Evans to walk by and show he was listening in.
It will be interesting to see if Activision ever releases the game in the American marketplace or keeps it solely based in China. The shooter was specifically made to tailor to the interest and needs of Chinese players, so the content might not translate as well for players in the United States. Call of Duty Online hits the Chinese market on January 11.
