Tomorrowland Super Bowl TV Spot Blasts Off Online
First, viewers just got a tease, now Disney has released the full 30 second Tomorrowland TV spot online. The latest look at the highly anticipated sci-fi feature from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Brad Bird and co-writer and producer Brad Linelof is available below.
The new video features some more epic, awe-inspiring and sweeping shots of the enigmatic and futuristic city that is called Tomorrowland. The story follows a former boy-genius named Frank (George Clooney) and a young, jaded teen named Casey (Britt Robertson). Together, the two people embark on a mission to find the secrets of Tomorrowland in an adventure that will change both them and the world forever.
The plot details and what happens in the film are still very vague. At the Disney D23 Expo presentation for the film and the exhibit for the film on the show floor suggested that some of the greatest scientific minds in history banded together and put aside their differences for a project that would save the world. There were artifacts and documents suggesting a hidden history with Walt Disney, the Imagineers and the Walt Disney Company that involve the creation of Tomorrowland, which also shares a name with the futuristic section of the Disney theme parks. The new preview features a look at what resembles a monorail, sans the railing in the hidden Tomorrowland city, and also a rocket that appears to be blasting off from the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was named after the engineer and architect Gustave Eiffel, who happened to be one of the members of the secret society of scientists that could be partially responsible for the creation of Tomorrowland.
The upcoming film also stars Hugh Laurie, who is briefly seen in the new preview, as the brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kahtryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson. Tomorrowland is due out in theaters on May 22.
