5 Insane Things People Have Built Inside Video Games
Over the past few years, there has been a whole host of video games that focus not on fantastic gameplay but instead on the imagination of the player. Games like Minecraft and LittleBigPlanet put a huge emphasis on allowing gamers to make massive structures, buildings or anything they want. Also, many modern games also include level creators and customization modes that further give players the choice of building their own things within games. Many of the items built in these games are mightily impressive but some are so large or complex that they seem entirely crazy.
5. Minecraft Computer
Minecraft is famous for the creations that people have built within in, primarily because the main aim of the game is for people to mine for materials and construct structures or landscapes. Since its release several years ago, millions of players have set about creating some frankly astounding things in the game, from huge sprawling buildings, imaginative pieces of art and even video games within Minecraft itself.
The best things that have been created in the title though are those items that are completely unexpected, where even the original creators themselves could not have imagined such a thing was possible. Possible the greatest example of this comes in the form of a fully functional computer that can carry out calculations, store information on a gigantic hard drive and perform logical operations.
4. Halo Forge Creations
Forge mode was first introduced into the Halo series in the third instalment. It was originally meant to be a way for players to modify existing maps in Halo 3 in order to make unique variations and brand new maps from scratch. While it was limited due to the fact that users could only use a set number of pieces with restricted options to manipulate items. That didn’t stop people from making large numbers of brilliant maps, nevertheless what was more impressive was the fact that players didn’t just create new maps but also produced some vast monuments in reference to popular culture, inspired pieces of artwork and even working structures.
Some of the best examples include to-scale models of the AT-AT Walker from Star Wars, a snapshot of a battle between the USS Enterprise and a Star Destroyer with almost exact replicas of those two ships and a number of buildings taken from the Lord of the Rings franchise. More innovative creations came in the form of Mouse Trap-like structures that saw items being moved around a large space through a variety of mechanisms and exciting racing tracks built to be traversed by the in-game vehicles. Perhaps most impressive of all though was this giant banjo playing Brute Chieftain.
3. Friends in the Sims 4
The Sims is all about creating interesting characters and building your dream house. It puts a huge amount of emphasis on the customization options it offers and this allows players to recreate a number of buildings and locations from popular culture for their own characters to inhabit while they play the game. While almost every single person who has played the game will have probably have tried to build a famous house at some point, others have put far more effort to ensure that their creations are almost exact replicas.
One particularly accurate example came in 2014 with the release of the Sims 4. Within just a week of the hit game’s release, a player posted a series of photos onto Reddit that shows the various apartments used by the main characters in Friends. These recreations were practically identical to their real life counterparts, including the color of paint and the location of each piece of furniture. As well as each of the apartments, the player even created the infamous coffee house Central Perk.
2. LittleBigPlanet Calculator
LittleBigPlanet’s creation system has been lauded by players for its flexibility that allows them to create a huge variety of different things on top of the standard platforming levels. Some people have taken the level creator and used it to make truly unique creations that even the developers would never have thought possible when they first included the mode in their title. Particularly creative individuals have even been able to recreate movie scenes using the in-game video editor as well as other things such as music videos and even very simple video games.
One user though went much further and created a fully function calculator that was capable of carrying out a number of mathematical functions. The vast construction, which took plenty of time to create, incorporated hundreds of wires, pistons, emitters and magnetic switches to accurately perform the calculations. The true scale and impressiveness of the structure can only really be appreciated by watching the video showing it in action.
1. Stop Motion Animation in Minecraft
One group of gamers took creation to an all new level within Minecraft when they began creating stop motion recreations of actual video games on a giant Game Boy console. The portable gaming system was made to look exactly as it does in real life, with the screen made up of exactly the same amount of blocks as the original console had pixels. This allowed each block to represent a pixel on the in-game screen, letting them recreate the games exactly how they originally appeared. All in all, the Minecraft Game Boy was made up of 18 million blocks and several scenes from actual games were filmed and put online.
Some of the games that the creators managed to replicate in Minecraft included The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Tetris, Super Mario Land and Pokemon Red. The videos were so accurate that Notch himself thought they were not genuine. In fact, until this making of video was released, many people thought that the entire video had been faked. Finally, just to show how much time they had to spare, they then went on to make a stop motion scene of the original Pac Man.
