Darth Vader Returns for Season Finale of Star Wars Rebels
Disney XD and Lucasfilm have informed Popgeeks that a special classic Star Wars character will be making another appearance in the season finale of Star Wars Rebels airing next week. The season one finale of Star Wars Rebels, “Fire Across the Galaxy,” will feature the return of Darth Vader!
The Sith Lord returns for another appearance in the finale, which airs on Disney XD on March 2. Darth Vader previously made a cameo appearance in the second part of the premiere, “Spark of Rebellion,” with James Earl Jones returning to provide the voice. Based on the photo still Disney XD provided us, Vader will be making more than just a translucent hologram appearance, and he will be shown in his full glory.
Vader is not the only classic character to make to pop up in the show. Both R2D2 and C-3PO made appearances earlier this season. Recently, actor Billy Dee Williams reprised his role as Lando Calrissian when the crew of the Ghost begrudgingly had to help him with a heist. More recently, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope villain Grand Moff Tarkin has shown up as well.
The show last left the crew of the Ghost scrambling to save their friend and comrade Kanan Jarrus, who was in the captivity of Imperial forces led by Grand Moff Tarkin, the Inquisitor and Agent Kallus. The remaining crew members of the Ghost staged a daring mission to discover Kanan’s whereabouts, only to find he is being transported to Mustafar. Fans might remember Mustafar as the volcanic planet that set the stage for the fiery third act of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. If the Ghost crew stages a rescue, it could very well be a suicide mission, if they are not already too late to save Kanan.
Besides the new image of Vader in “Fire Across the Sky,” Disney XD has also provided us with a promo video for the finale, which is available below.
