All-New All-Different Avengers: Mark Waid Leads Creative Team for Upcoming Relaunch
Marvel Comics has officially announced the details for the upcoming relaunch of the Avengers comic book series later this fall. The Avengers comic book series will relaunch as the All-New All-Different Avengers. Issue No. 1 will hit the shelves in the fall season and will feature a new lineup of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, consisting of Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor (Jane Foster), Vision, the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man, Nova, Ms. Marvel and Iron Man (Tony Stark).
The creative team behind the new book will feature luminary writer Mark Waid and art provided by Adam Kubert and Mahmud Asrar. Mark Waid plans to kick off the series by putting the team through a baptism of “chaos and war” and no training period. The main villain of the first storyline will be Warbringer, who has strong ties to the Sam Alexander version of Nova. So the question will be if Sam will confess his past to the team as Warbringer brings havoc on New York City.
Waid also plans to explore “financial responsibility” in the book. The Avengers team will no longer have the endless pockets of Tony Stark’s fortune to finance their adventures. Stark is no longer the financial resource of the team, so the group will have to operate more modestly and limit their resources.
Speaking on the new book, Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort stated: “This team is a group of characters that you’ve never seen operate together before, no matter how long you may have been reading comics, and yet it’s also a team that upholds the Avengers’ traditions—there’s nobody among these characters that you look at and feel hasn’t earned their place on the team or in the spotlight, the way some past Avengers occasionally have. And it’s possibly the most real-world reflective Avengers team of all time, with only a single white male to be found amidst the membership rolls.”
Issue No. 1 of All-New All-Different Avengers goes on sale in October of this year. You can check out the cover art for the first issue below:
