Ant-Man and The Wasp To Be “Different Genre”?
The Ant-Man movie, while not a mega-blockbuster, still did incredibly well at the box office. Leading to a very quick sequel coming in the form of Ant-Man and The Wasp. The movie, according to director Peyton Reed, will be very different in tone and style to the original.
“I think there’s probably going to be some aspects that maybe call back to the tone of this movie, but for Ant-Man and the Wasp, we have an entirely different template,” Reed told CBR. “We know what that template is, and we have an entirely different genre template for that movie. But it’s going to remain a surprise. But yes, that’s already been decided.”
Reed also noted the possible return of screenwriter Adam McKay, confirming he’ll be “back in some capacity,” along with production writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.
“A lot of it has to do with his schedule on The Big Short because he’s promoting that movie,” he said of McKay’s return. “We talked about Ant-Man, and he’s psyched to come back. We want him back. It’s going to be a scheduling thing.”
The first Ant-Man movie was described as a “heist” film, and in many ways it was. What will Ant-Man and the Wasp be? We’ll find out before it releases July 6th, 2018
