Arrow Getting New Spinoff Comic Featuring Malcolm Merlyn
Of the many things Arrow started when it came to TV a few years ago, a digital comics line was arguably one of the most important ones. Since its inception, Arrow, and its fellow series Flash, have had tie-in comics that add more depth to the Arrowverse, and have even continued storylines and reused characters from the series.
Now, a new digital comic featuring one of the more popular Arrow characters, Malcolm Merlyn AKA The Dark Archer, is coming. This comic, titled Arrow: Dark Archer, will feature the backstory to Malcolm Merlyn. Mainly, his time with the League of Assassins, as well as his rise to power via Merlyn Global. In true Arrow fashion, the main story will focus in the present, while flashbacks show off Merlyn’s life.
Adding to the fun, is the fact that Malcolm Merlyn himself John Barrowman will be writing the comic, along with his sister Carole. He revealed to TVInsider his excitement for Malcolm Merlyn’s story to be told: “I’ve had a backstory in my head for Malcolm from the beginning and a lot of it has made its way into our comic and onto the screen. I think it’s always been my job to help the audience relate to Malcolm in some way despite his questionable morals and evil ways.”
The comic will debut January 13th. You can check out a cover image below.
