Filming Wraps For Season One Of Live-Action Cowboy Bebop
It’s been a while since we last heard that Netflix was interested in making a live-action take on the world’s greatest anime, and sometimes that means abandonment, but…not this time. The latest news from the set is that it’s done. Season 1 of Cowboy Bebop has filmed all its scenes and just needs post-production work to be complete.
Daniella Pineda, who’s playing Faye on the show, leaked the news via an Instagram photo. “I’m coming back on the air to say…..Season 1 of COWBOY BEBOP is finally, finished. Gonna dip again but will return after these messages.” The show also stars John Cho as Spike, Mustafa Shakir as Jet, Alex Hassell as Vicious and Elena Satine as Julia. (But who is Ed? We can’t do this without Ed…)
If it feels like forever since we heard filming had started, there’s a reason. It began with a series of New Zealand shoots in 2019, until Cho suffered a knee injury and everyone else had to wait while he healed. Then, once he was ready to resume, no one else was — the pandemic was in full bloom by that point. It was only last September that filming was officially allowed to resume.
At this time, we can’t say for certain if Netflix’s attempt at making a live-action version of Cowboy Bebop will be good or not. We CAN say for certain, however, that at least it’s more doable as a concept than a live-action One Piece, which hopefully has been abandoned.
