Assassin’s Creed Movie Trailer Debuts Online
20th Century Fox has released the first trailer and official footage for the upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed movie. You can check out the full video in the player. After many years of development, the film hits theaters later this year. You can also check out a new poster image that was released.
Michael Fassenbender stars in the film as a convict who escapes his execution on death row to be recruited by Abstergo. They use revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, and Callum Lynch (Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th century Spain. Lynch in fact descended from a long line of a mysterious secret society called the Assassins. He soon amasses incredible knowledge and skils to take on the oppressive and powerful Templars in the present day.
Conceptually, the film looks pretty faithful to the game franchise. The CG on the Animus contraption in the trailer did not look very convincing though. Still, Fassbender is a quality actor, so hopefully this can be a quality video game movie. In some ways, this does still resemble Prince of Persia (the movie).
The film also stars Marion Cotillard. Assassin’s Creed is directed by Justin Kurzel. It’s due out in theaters on December 21.
