Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Comes With Microtransactions
Microtransactions are something that most gamers associate with the likes of mobile games such as Candy Crush or Farmville. However, the practice has slowly been making its way into mainstream console games for some time. Early Xbox 360 Tiger Woods games included purchases that would boost stats and unlock items, while more recently games such as Pro Evolution Soccer 16 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have included them to some degree. We also know that Halo 5: Guardians will contain some form of microtransactions so it seems like their presence is only going to become more frequent in the coming months,
To that end, Ubisoft have now revealed the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the very latest entry in their flagship franchise, will contain them. The publisher stated that they won’t price gamers out of being able to unlock all of the content in the game and that the additional purchases will simply allow a player to access high-end gear and extras more quickly than through traditional gameplay.
“Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will include paid options to save time and accelerate progress,” development director Francois Pelland told IGN. “The model for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is quite similar to Black Flag, allowing players who do not have time to fully explore our huge game world to still be able to eventually acquire the game’s most powerful gear as well as other items.”
“Rest assured, all of Syndicate’s content is available without paying anything additional and the game has been balanced such that microtransactions are 100% optional.”
