Bayonetta Could’ve Been In Project X-Zone 2
Between this news and Geno, Sunday is the day of game makers’ regrets.
Next to Smash Bros, the biggest cross-company mashup game is Project X-Zone, which stars characters from Namco, Sega and Capcom, plus others. But it could have had more. Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya was asked on Twitter if he was offered to slip Bayonetta into the new game. He revealed he initially ruled against it, but now wishes he didn’t.
There was an offer, but I said no. Now I kinda regret that I said no. RT @KoriMaru
Kamiya said in a follow-up that the reason he refused was because that would have ended up creating the first game in which Bayonetta and Dante (from Devil May Cry, a previous creation by the same team) meet. Kamiya wanted to make that game himself. Now he thinks he might have gotten too greedy.
I said no to the offer of PXZ cuz I want to make the game in which Bayo & Dante appear by myself. But thinking of fans, maybe I was wrong.
Project X-Zone is a series developed by Monolith Soft, creators of the Xenoblade series and currently a Nintendo second party. Getting Bayonetta really would have been as easy as a “yes” reply from Platinum. But it’s not really too late, is it? In a world that’s seen the wonders of DLC add-ons, never say never.
