Beauty and the Beast: Teaser Trailer Debuts Online
Walt Disney Studios unveiled the first teaser trailer today for the upcoming live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast. You can check out the new video in the player below, which offers a brief glimpse of the upcoming film, based on Disney’s animated classic. The new film refashions the characters and musical numbers from the animated version.
The teaser is very much a tease, and there’s very little in the actual way of footage. There’s not a formal look at the Beast, and only a brief look at Watson as Belle. There’s some other voice-over by the other characters, but they are not seen. Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney’s most beloved classics, so hopefully this is a worthy update.
The upcoming film stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts. Bill Condon is directing the movie, with music by Alan Menken, and music and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters on March 17, 2017. Here’s an official synopsis:
