Bungie Reveal Destiny: The Taken King Raid Release Date
Bungie has announced during a livestream of the brand new expansion for Destiny, The Taken King, that the additional raid will release on September 18 at 10:00 AM PT. This date was later confirmed by Bungie creative director Luke Smith on Twitter as he thanked fans for playing Destiny for a year.

The fact that the raid does not release simultaneously with the actual DLC expansion pack continues a tradition of Bungie staggering the release to allow players to level up and experience other parts of the game before tackling the difficult raid bosses. The new raid, entitled The King’s Fall, will see players battling the Oryx who is the father of Crota, a boss from a previous raid. According to Bungie, The King’s Fall is the biggest raid in Destiny.
“The raid coming in The Taken King is objectively and emphatically our biggest raid yet,” creative director Luke Smith said. “It is a journey that we hope players and their friends are going to remember. It raises the stakes again for what the raid team is expected to deliver.”
The Taken King is the largest expansion that Destiny has received so far. It includes two new locations, a collection of story missions and quests, four new Strikes, eight Crucible maps and three new Crucible Playlists. It also includes an additional three subclasses, one for each class, and a variety of new weapons, gear and armor as well as some gameplay changes, such as the levelling system being simplified to a more basic XP system.
