Candidates For Power Rangers Movie Arise
Despite having a release date, and a director, there have been no casting announcements about the cast of the upcoming “modern telling” of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
However, it’s being reported by Variety that the Rangers for the film are being sought out, and are aimed to be relative unknowns, while the villain/villains would be big names. Three Rangers in particular have some names attached already.
For the Black Ranger, Zack, there’s:Daniel Zovatto from It Follows, Ross Butler from Chasing Life and Brian “Sene” Marc from Major Crimes.
For the Red Ranger, Jason, there’s: KJ Apa from Shortland Street, Austin Butler from The Shannara Chronicles and Mitchell Hope from Disney’s The Descendants.
And for the Pink Ranger, Kimberly, there’s: Naomi Scott from The Martian and Stefanie Scott from Disney Channel’s A.N.T.
Now none of these are official, and more could be thrown in later. But right now it looks like these are the top candidates. We’ll fill you in more on other possible candidates as more names (and reports) become available. Especially in regards to the villains role, which again Lionsgate is said to be searching for a “big name” for.
