Coming up in Gaming – November
November traditionally sees plenty of big releases as publishers look to get their products out in time for Christmas. This year is no different, making it most exciting month of the year so far for gamers.
Big Releases
Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the latest game in the hugely popular Call of Duty series, will release on November 6 on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, though the version on previous generation consoles only includes multiplayer. A sequel to the 2012 title Black Ops II, it will continue the story 40 years after the events of its predecessor and also includes a number of Zombie storylines.
Another series that is making a return in November is Rainbow Six with the release of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. It is the first game in the franchise since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in 2008, after Rainbow 6 Patriots was cancelled by Ubisoft in 2014. The new title will keep the focus on co-operative teamwork and tactics while also emphasising siege warfare and new destructible environments. Unlike previous games, it doesn’t feature any singleplayer campaign though does support solo play in the Terrorist Hunt mode. It will release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 30.
Arguably the most anticipated release in November is Fallout 4 from Bethesda. Having only been officially announced earlier this year, despite years of speculation that the game was in development, it is set to hit store shelves on November 10. Set in a post-apocalyptic Boston, the game will see players completing quests, exploring the world and defeating enemies in much the same way as in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. However, it does a number of new features and customization options to take advantage of the technology in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
November also sees a sequel to the 2012 reboot of the Lara Croft game Tomb Raider. Rise of the Tomb Raider will further tell the story of the rise of the protagonist as she becomes the famous treasure hunter. It will be a console exclusive on the Xbox family of consoles for 2015 when it releases on November 10, though will later release on PlayStation in late 2016.
The final big release for this month is EA’s Star Wars Battlefront, which is being developed by Battlefield studio DICE. Releasing on November 17 on the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One, the game is essentially a reboot of the series, changing the formula to bring it up to date with modern gaming while doing away with a singleplayer campaign. The recent open beta gave players the chance to get to grips with the gameplay and what type of modes they can expect to see and was generally well received.
