Coming up in Gaming – October 2015
Now that we are approaching Christmas, many of the biggest franchises are set to receive sequels in the coming months and October is no different. The likes of Assassin’s Creed and Halo will see new games in the next month while old favourites such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero are set to return.
Big Releases
October will see the return of two franchises that haven’t been seen for a number of years as both Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live are set to launch during the month. The Harmonix developed Rock Band 4 will be available from October 6 and allows users to import music from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, LEGO Rock Band and all of their previous DLC tracks, while it will also support some legacy instruments.
Meanwhile, Guitar Hero Live launches on October 20 and servers as a complete reboot of the series, bringing a brand new interface, gameplay style and guitar instrument. It will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U, while Rock Band 4 will be available only be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Any PlayStation 4 owners who missed out on previous Uncharted games or are just looking to replay the series with the upcoming released of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be happy because Naughty Dog is set to release Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in October. Featuring the single player campaigns from all three previous games, it contains upgraded visuals and performance by taking advantage of the power available from the PlayStation 4.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 23. It is the first time the series has been set in London, and takes place during the Industrial Revolution in 1868. The player will take on the role of a set of twins who are battling against organized criminal gangs and the authorities who are under the control of the Templars. Continuing on from Assassin’s Creed Unity, it keeps much of the gameplay that has made the series so popular but also sees new additions such as new stealth mechanics and a better designed travel system.
Telltale Games only announced that they would be re-releasing Back to the Future: The Game in celebration of the movie franchise’s 30th anniversary. The title will be available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 and will include new behind the scenes interviews, extra voice work and new features.
Microsoft’s flagship franchise is also set to return in October, with the latest release in the Halo series, Halo 5: Guardians. It is set to hit store shelves on October 27 and is a departure from previous Halo games in that it will allow players to play as two distinct characters, as they take control of both Master Chief and Spartan Locke. 343 Industries has also included new multiplayer modes to cater for those who want large battlefield type battles and players who enjoy competitive eSport playlists.
