David Hayter Returns as Solid Snake in Ford Ads
David Hayter has long been recast in the Metal Gear Solid video game franchise, but he reprised the role some new ads from Ford. You can check out one of those ads from Ford below. Hayter also commented on the ads on twitter.
In the video Colonel Roy Campbell gives a call to Solid Snake (Hayter) on the codec to tell him about the 2016 Ford Focus. Campbell then explains the virtues of the car. Obviously, Hideo Kojima had nothing to do with this commercial and could not sign off on it since he does not own the Metal Gear Solid property. The other Metal Gear Solid ad features Psycho Mantis. It’s a joke about Mantis peaking in Snake’s mind and seeing why Snake is thinking about the 2017 Ford Fusion Titanium.
Ford’s been producing a lot of these geek-themed throwback ads as of late. There was another Dragon Ball Z ad with Master Roshi. Honda released a car commercial featuring Skeletor and the original voice-actor for Skeletor. So car companies are trying to reach out to the geek culture these days.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which does not feature Hayter as Snake, is available now on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
