DC Comics Unveils Several New Mini-Series For Key DC Characters
When it comes to DC Comics, they have numerous iconic characters. And each of them has a fanbase all their own that want to see more and more stories about them. I’m not talking about just “A-Listers” or heroes, villains, B-Team squads, and more have plenty of fans.
Today, DC unveiled that in early 2016, several DC characters will be getting their own 6-issue mini-series. Each being written by prominent writers, and each giving them a chance for spotlight…along with a hope at a recurring series down the line.
“By bringing them on to their own special limited series, we’re really spotlighting what’s so fantastic about these characters,” says Bob Harras, DC’s editor in chief and senior vice president for editorial.
So, who’s getting a series? Well, there’s the Metal Men, who got their reintroduction via the Forever Evil storyline a while back. Raven, who’s famous for her role in the uber popular Teen Titans. Poison Ivy finally get a chance to tell her own story (much to the delight of her diehard fans, the Poison Ivy League). Metamorpho is getting his own story. But the biggest surprise might just be the rebirth of Sugar & Spike.
The final three might just be the most curious, as they each had their own New 52 book a while back. Katana, Firestorm, and Swamp Thing will each be “reborn” via these mini-series.
These miniseries are self contained, but they will be a complete story according to DC Comics creative head Dan Didio:
“This is about character but there is a complete story in every one of those miniseries,” DiDio says. “It has a beginning, middle and end, and something that affects the course of that character that we would be able to launch and take further if things are successful.”
So if you’re a fan of one of these characters? Here’s your chance to tell DC Comics who you want to see down the road in their own ongoing series.
