Destiny: Fan Creates Impressive Comic Featuring Cayde-6
While Destiny has often been criticized for some of its plot holes and story issues, many fans have taken the task of filling in these holes themselves. It’s sparked the creation of Destiny lore videos that were actually created by fans that delve deeper into things like the Grimoire cards that offer some more backstory into the world of Bungie’s Destiny. However, one of the true stars to come out of the franchise since the release of the new Destiny expansion, The Taken King, was the Exo Vanguard member, Cayde-6. Reddit user Spaceman Spiff posted the link to the comic on Imgur, and you can check out some of the comic below. You can read the full comic at the Imgur link.
Space Spiff created the comic out of love for the backstory and lore for the Destiny, noted the want for comics and novels based on the franchise. The story is an encounter between Cayde-6 and an exiled Fallen on the Moon. Per Spaceman Spiff’s Reddit post, the story is in-canon as it was taken from the in game Ghost fragment: Fallen (which was written by Reddit user General Battuta). Spiff did shorten the story and took out Cayde climbing the hill to an antenna array.
If Bungie and Activision may take anything away from this, it’s that fans are essentially doing their job for them. There are avenues for the Destiny storyline they could possibly exploit more, be it through novels, comics, web shorts, or digital features. It’s worked quite well for the Halo franchise. Destiny: The Taken King is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
