Destiny Leak Reveals New DLC is The Taken King
Marketing material has allegedly leaked the next expansion for Bungie’s sci-fi shooter Destiny. Kotaku was able to view the marketing sheet and confirm the information with other sources, revealing that the new expansion will be called The Taken King and will be priced at a hefty $40. The information has also been corroborated by Red Bull promotional material that details bonuses that can be unlocked in-game by purchasing the energy drink.
According to the leak, the expansion will release on September 15 to mark the one year anniversary of the release of the game. It will feature a new raid that will see players battle with the Hive boss known as Oryx, the father of Crota, along with new enemies called the Taken. The Taken King will also see new subclasses for the Warlock, Titan and Hunter classes as well as new super abilities for each of them.
As is standard with Destiny DLC, it will also include a number of new Strike missions and PvP multiplayer maps. The large price tag suggests though that it could contain significantly more content than other expansions.
The news comes after Bungie teased a big announcement for Destiny just last week. It also seemingly confirms a large leak that surfaced in January that claimed to show the entire release schedule for Destiny DLC as well as information about what would be contained. Although some of the details changed from what was shown in the leak, such as The House of Wolves releasing in May rather than March, it has been more or less accurate and also stated that the expansion would release in September.
