Final Street Fighter V Launch Character Revealed
He wears dark round glasses and Darkwing Duck’s hat, he talks with an excessively flamboyant voice, and he’s coming to Street Fighte V. Say hello to FANG! He’s the newest character to join the roster for the latest installment of the fighting game franchise.
His name is an acronym, and no one knows what it stands for, but we do know FANG cheats in battle by striking his opponents with poison. (He’s with Shadaloo; he’s not a good guy.) “Whenever his poison attacks connect, they continuously deal damage to the opponent’s life bar until he gets hit or the poison runs its course,” Capcom said. “FANG’s sinister long range attacks and slippery movements, paired with his ability to poison, will leave his opponents feeling ill.”
In addition to FANG, Capcom also revealed Street Fighter V’s DLC pricing system, which uses a currency called “Zenny,” something Mega Man fans should find familiar. 100 Zennies are worth 99 cents; 1200 Zennies can be bought for $9.99. Since the only way to get Zenny is to exchange real-world money for it, players may wonder what the point is. Disney Dollars psychology, that’s the point.
Once the game launches, it’s far from the end. The first six downloadable characters will be Balrog and Guile from Street Fighter 2; Alex, Ibuki and Urien from Street Fighter 3; and Juri from Street Fighter 4. You can eventually earn them free, but those who hold a Season Pass for all the DLC content (which is $30) will be able to grab them right away. Sensing a theme here? This game you already bought is going to be begging you for money quite frequently. Blame Obama.
Street Fighter V comes out next year for Playstation 4 and PC.
