Full Rare Replay Installation Size Detailed
When Rare Replay was revealed at this year’s E3 during the Microsoft Media Briefing and the game subsequently appeared on the Xbox.com store, some people raised an eyebrow at the seemingly low download size of just under 12GB. That seemed like an incredibly low file size for what was 30 games, several of which are full retail Xbox 360 games. Well it turns out that the 11.26GB download is just the initial game itself with the earlier NES, SNES, N64 and Xbox titles. The Xbox 360 titles included in the collection come as separate files and will take up a further 38GB, meaning that the full size of Rare Replay will approach 50GB in total, or around 1/10 of the total space available in the normal Xbox One hard drive.
“After purchase, the Xbox 360 titles within Rare Replay will also be added to your download queue. Installation space for all titles will require a further 38Gb. If you cancel the installation of a title, you can reinstall at any time by locating the title in the ‘Ready to Install’ section of My Games & app or within the Xbox Store.”
This has fueled speculation that the Xbox 360 titles will not be included in the disc version of Rare Replay and will instead have to be downloaded from Xbox Live. However, Rare boss Craig Duncan has seemingly confirmed via Twitter (see below) that the Xbox 360 titles will all be on the retail disc and will install from there, so you won’t have to be connected to Xbox Live to play the game.
