Game of Thrones Stars React to Emmy Nominations
The Emmy nominations have been released, and Game of Thrones is dominating the awards categories. The fan and critically acclaimed series on HBO has garnered 23 nominations this year. However, Jon Snow actor Kit Harington, and Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, have both received their first ever nominations as best supporting actor and actress respectively.
After overcoming the shock, both Harington and Williams expressed great honor and joy in being nominated. Harington released in a statement:
“It is a serious understatement to say that I am somewhat stunned. For my work on Game of Thrones to be recognized in this way is an emotional moment for me. I could not be more humbled.”
Williams on the other hand had a very natural reaction on Twitter, which went several rounds. Eventually, she released a more “calm” statement, saying, “I am so grateful to be a part of Game of Thrones, so to be nominated for an Emmy is beyond words, but I would like to say thank you to George for creating such an amazing character and to Dan, David and everyone associated with the show who bring Arya to life.”
Other acting nominations for Game of Thrones include: Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, and Max Von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven. Game of Thrones recently completed its sixth season for HBO, and season seven is currently being prepped.
