Here’s Where You Can Get The Chance To Play Mario Maker
It’s one of the most anticipated pieces of Wii U software that we know of: Mario Maker, the game-making tool that will let Mario fanatics create their own levels from any era in the plumber’s sidescrolling history, as well as play an endless amount of user-created levels. It’s also been delayed several times. The final concrete date is this September, but if you’d like to get your hands on it before then, Nintendo is working something out with Best Buy that will allow just that.
On Wednesday, June 17 and Saturday, June 20, around 100 Best Buy outlets will feature Mario Maker in their stores, free for anyone to mess with. June 17’s event lasts from 4 to 9 PM and the June 20 events goes from noon to 5 PM.
If and when you get the chance to play Mario Maker for yourself, you’ll receive a special 30th Anniversary Mario button. If you take this occasion to reserve two select Wii U or 3DS titles from an unrevealed mysterious list (presumably this list includes some that will be revealed at E3), you will get seven MORE buttons, and a pat on the head.
Head to the Nintendo Access page on BestBuy.com to select your state and find out where Mario Maker will be playable. If you live in Oregon, like I do, don’t bother — you’ve been snubbed. Mario Maker is scheduled for a release later this September for the Wii U console.
