Hideo Kojima Posts Emotional Video To Fans
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain finally released yesterday and developer Hideo Kojima has released a video on YouTube discussing exactly how much the series has meant to him over the past few years and thanking fans for their continuous support. The legendary developer also apologized for the fact that the game had taken so long to release but that the extra time has allowed him to create something that he feels is incredibly special.
Finally, the video also has a touching tribute to a fan of the franchise that sadly passed away due to an illness. Sean Gillespie had been made an honorary member of the development team and the footage shows Kojima visiting the family home once development was complete and giving them some signed copies of the title.
This message from Kojima essentially ends the development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on an emotional and somewhat positive note. The video is made all the more poignant considering that this is likely to be the last Metal Gear Solid game that the developer will work on after a falling out between him and publisher Konami. Reports over the past few months have suggested that Kojima will no longer be working with the Japanese publisher after his latest release and Konami later removed his name from all marketing material and the box art for the game.
