Hyper Light Drifter Gets New Trailer and Release Date
Along with the likes of Cuphead and No Man’s Sky, Hyper Light Drifter has been one of the most eagerly awaited indie games of recent times. After a huge successful Kickstarter campaign, in which developer Heart Machine managed to raise more than $645,000 with a goal of just $27,000, the game was originally slated to release at some point in late 2014. That date has since been pushed back to this year but in an update on their campaign page, the developer has now confirmed that Hyper Light Drifter will not be available until Spring 2016.
While that may seem like a long way away, they have also posted a brand new trailer for the title in an effort to let you take a look at some of the newly added features and get a look at the gorgeous art style and pulsating soundtrack.
“We’ve been working full-blast for almost two years, and the team as a whole needs to continue to steadily pace ourselves, instead of crunching; pushing any harder would burn us out, leading to a negative outcome,” said the studio on Kickstarter. “We see how close we are, and how exciting it is to finally peek at the end of the tunnel. We are on budget, well paced, within our means, and more excited than ever.”
When Hyper Light Drifter does release next year, it will be available on a variety of platforms. The team are prioritizing the PC, Mac and Linux versions of the game. However, editions on the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Wii U and Xbox One will launch shortly afterwards.
