Iron Fist: Scott Buck Announced as Showrunner for Netflix Show
Marvel Entertainment has finally confirmed the showrunner for the long awaited, highly anticipated live-action series Iron Fist. The upcoming Marvel Netflix show will be executive produced by Scott Buck (Dexter, Six Feet Under). Buck was the executive producer and showrunner for Dexter’s last four seasons. He has also served as a writer for Six Feet Under and Rome.
The news will be highly welcomed for Iron Fist fans. In recent months there were rumors that the Marvel was struggling with the Iron Fist rumors, or that the show would be replaced by The Punisher or even Shang-Chi. However, Marvel’s Head of TV Jeph Loeb and Joe Quesada later debunked rumors, which later turned out to be false.
Speaking on Buck joining the show, Jeph Loeb stated: “Scott came in with a take on Iron Fist that quite simply knocked us off our feet. We always look for the most creative minds in the field to help us bring our heroes to life, and with Scott we’ve found someone that can deliver yet another great series in the ongoing story of The Defenders.”
Buck added on his new gig, “I’ve always been drawn to writing complex, intriguing characters, and that’s what most excites me about the opportunity to bring Danny Rand and “Iron Fist” to life with Marvel on Netflix.”
Marvel also revealed a new logline for the series, which is the first bit of story details for the show:
Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Marvel’s Iron Fist will be the fourth series from the overall Marvel TV and Netflix deal, which has already seen the release of the first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. The next show which is due out is Marvel’s Luke Cage in 2016. All four heroes will later unite in the miniseries event Marvel’s The Defenders.
