Joe Quesada Talks Daredevil Season 2 and Marvel Netflix Shows
At first, some considered it a risk for Marvel to be putting certain properties into shows that would debut on Netflix and Netflix alone. However, after the incredible reception Daredevil received, that fear is long gone. In addition, many fans can’t wait for not only Daredevil Season 2, but also Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Joe Quesada recently spoke with IGN about the shows and how because of the format, they’re allowed to do very different stories than the larger Marvel movies.
“I don’t want to speak too much about the other series because each one has their own flavor, but it is the smaller, darker part of the Marvel Universe,” Quesada said about Marvel’s Netflix shows. He added: “The Avengers are about saving the world. Daredevil, Jessica Jones and all those other characters, they’re about saving a neighborhood, they’re about saving a block, they’re about saving an apartment complex. So it’s smaller, but the stakes still feel the same because they’re just as important. To the people living in Hell’s Kitchen, saving their neighborhood is as important to the people in Manhattan when aliens start coming out of a portal in the sky and the Avengers came to save them.”
Now, for Daredevil Season 2, there will be two huge additions to the series: Elektra and Punisher. What does Quesada think about this?
“That’s why we pay our amazing Writers Room the big bucks,” Quesada joked. “Doug Petrie and Mark Ramirez, the co-showrunners, have concocted an amazing series, an amazing season this year and believe me, sparks will fly and it’s going to be pretty phenomenal,” he continued.
Though no date for the return of Daredevil has been given, it’s assumed it’ll emerge around April or May of next year.
