Kodi Smit-McPhee’s Nightcrawler Revealed For X-Men Apocalypse!
Numerous famous mutants are going to be arriving in X-Men Apocalypse, many of whom are famous X-Men in one way or another. From the classic trio of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, to fan favorites like Jubilee, Angel, and Psylocke, and of course, the teleporting Nightcrawler. In addition, Nightcrawler just so happens to have been revealed as far as his look for the movie (see the above image).
Along with Angel, Nightcrawler is a character from the original trilogy that many weren’t sure we’d see again in the X-Men films, as they were both fully grown adults in those movies, not to mention that Mystique is the mother of Nightcrawler.
Anyway, initial weirdness aside, it’s good to see Nightcrawler looking true to the character. Kodi Smit-McPhee talked about his upcoming role as Nightcrawler to Den Of Geek:
“I think I’m really going to make it my own because it is kind of going back and its seeing the younger character,” Smit-McPhee said. “I realize the Nightcrawler that is portrayed in X2 is one that has been through quite a bit more and has really embraced the superhero part of him—a kind of violent part. Whereas I think what they’re trying to show here is the more vulnerable Nightcrawler and the one we all kind of related to in the comics. It’s really the fun, happy, swashbuckling Nightcrawler that we all love, so I really can’t wait to portray that. He’s just very vulnerable and truthful, and grounded in his faith. I think it’s something new though that we’ll see. But as I said, all of the traditional things that we want in it—it’s still there. Hint, hint.”
So, it sounds like he’s happy with where the character is going. Are you?
