Matt Ryan’s Constantine Set for Arrow Season 4 This Fall
The NBC’s Constantine series starring Matt Ryan may have been short-lived, but the show did gain a loyal fan following and good reviews. However, the series was cancelled after one season. Since that time, there was talk of somehow Matt Ryan once again appearing as the man known as John Constantine for the hit CW series, Arrow, which enters its fourth season this fall. Well, those rumors have now been confirmed. The CW has officially announced that John Constantine will appear on Arrow Season 4 later this fall. In addition, Matt Ryan will reprise the role and don the trademark trench-coat of the Hellblazer once again.
It helps that both shows are properties owned by DC comics and were produced by Warner Bros. TV. So the question becomes, what brings the supernatural detective Constantine with the masked vigilante the Green Arrow? According to a press release from The CW, Constantine will “provide critical support to Oliver when arrows aren’t enough.”
So while this might not be the reprieve on the Constantine series that fans might have hopes for, at least Matt Ryan’s Constantine will live on in the Arrow series. Plus, since the show is inter-connected with the other DC TV shows on The CW, if this episode is a success, there is always a chance Matt Ryan could return as Constantine again in Arrow, The Flash or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Arrow Season 4 will air on The CW later this fall and debuts on October 7. You can also check out a video message from actor Matt Ryan on the Constantine/Arrow announcement below.
