Mega Man Creator Launches Another Kickstarter Project Called Red Ash
After having a mega success with his previous Kickstarter video game project, Mighty No.9., Keiji Inafune has taken to Kickstarter once more to bring another game to life. Whereas Mighty No.9 was meant as a true spiritual successor to the old school Mega Man games, his new project, titled Red Ash – The Indelible Legend, is meant to be a “successor” to the much beloved Mega Man Legends games.
“Red Ash takes place in a world where humans are almost extinct as a result of a large-scale robot world war. Class structure has been rigidly divided into the haves and the have-nots, and many of the surviving humans hunt now-feral robots for their Lost Technology. The story of Red Ash: Indelible Legend focuses on Beck, Tyger, Call, and Gofer, four characters who make their livelihood by obtaining this same Lost Technology. ”
Funnily enough, Inafune’s is hoping to not only make a game based on this title, but an anime as well, which is also doing a Kickstarter at this time. Some may see this as risky, but Inafune sees it as a challenge worth taking.
“We want people around the world to look up to this project as an example of what Japanese creators are truly capable of,” he said.
The Red Ash game is going for $800,000 raised, while the Red Ash anime is only going for $150,000. Both are still very far away from their end dates, so you’ll have plenty of time to pledge if you wish!
