Mewtwo Is In Smash Bros…..Who’s Next?
Today is the day you can officially start adding Mewtwo to your Smash Bros. roster, on both the 3DS and the Wii U, thanks to a patch that’ll be applied the next time you turn on your game (you still have to download the 150th Pokemon separately).
Some alterations to the game itself also came from this patch. According to the Internet’s analytical watchdogs, some of Lucina’s moves are now stronger and Pac-Man’s slow-throw animation is faster. Most importantly, the Smash developers seem to have listened to players’ complaints that Diddy Kong was unbalanced and have properly “nerfed” the character, making him considerably less powerful and therefore less of a cheat online.
But now that we have Mewtwo, who’s next? We know Lucas is coming, and that Nintendo has asked for requests regarding possible new characters…but are there any hints out there?
A user on the Smash Bros. forums has decrypted the new patch and has found some curious data files in the 3DS version…..like voice data for Roy, the other Fire Emblem character from Melee…..and Ryu. Yes, the Street Fighter character. While this could mean anything, the sound files for Roy and Ryu were found among sound files labeled for Lucas — no doubt intended as a placeholder until Lucas arrives. And if that’s the case, these other files could be placeholders for the other two.
With no official word from Nintendo and only a lowly Redditor to rely on, feel free to take these discoveries with a grain of salt. But if the findings are legit, it might be possible you’ll be hearing “HADOUUUUUUUKEN!” coming from the game in the near future.
