Netflix Exec Talks Scheduling of Upcoming Marvel Shows
Despite it being a success so far, there are still a lot of questions in regards to the Marvel/Netflix shows. Mainly, when will we see the rest? And will they all be up for renewal like Daredevil was? Well, at the Television Critics Association press tour (via IGN), the CCO of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, explained the more than likely schedule for the shows:
“I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you’ll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group. And then they’ll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we’ve launched the first season of each of the four characters.”
The key phrase there is “when we’ve launched the first season of each.” As of yet, only Daredevil has been shown. Jessica Jones is still in the production phase. Luke Cage’s series only recently hired a showrunner, and there’s no word on Iron Fist yet. In case you were curious about whether Punisher (who will be in Daredevil Season 2) might get his own show? Sarandos addressed that as well, saying, “It is possible for sure. That’s the beauty of the Marvel universe.” He also added, regarding all the Marvel characters in play on Netflix, “Any of them could spin out into films too.”
Marvel’s Jessica Jones is expected for a late 2015 debut on Netflix.
