One-Punch Man Joins the Toonami Lineup
The folks at Toonami dropped an atomic bombshell at the 2016 Anime Expo. During Friday’s Toonami panel, the Toonami staff confirmed that the Viz Media and Studio Madhouse anime series, One-Punch Man, is going to join the Toonami lineup later this year. The show is based on the digital webcomic created by the author One, which was later adapted as a digital manga series illustrated by Yusuke Murata.
The show will feature the new English dub recorded for the series. Viz Media announced the main cast for the show earlier today at the Anime Expo’s Viz Media panel. The show will feature Max Mittelman as the voice of Saitama, Zach Aguilar as Genos, Robbie Daymond as Mumen Rider and Erik Scott Kimerer as Speed O’Sound Sonic for the English voice-over cast. The Toonami panelists also showed a new Toonami-style preview for the English dub.
The story follows a young man named Saitama, who after years of training has become uber-powerful. He becomes the strongest hero in the City Z, but he is able to defeat all his opponent with just one punch. As a result, he starts to become bored with being a part-time hero as a hobby, and he looks stronger opponents to challenge him.
One-Punch Man is a fantastic and welcome addition to the Toonami lineup. The One-Punch man announcement definitely got the crowd energized as well. It wasn’t clear, but the launch date for One-Punch Man on Toonami will be revealed later. You can check out a trailer for the show in the player below.
