Original Flash TV Series Now Available on CW Seed
It may be hard to imagine nowadays, but there was a time when superheroes weren’t in nearly every facet of media. These days, we have movies, TV shows, cartoons, video games, apps, and more containing our favorite superheroes. And yet, there was a time they struggled to be more than campy stories. One show that tried to break that mold was the 1990’s Flash TV series starring John Wesley Shipp. The show was on CBS for only one season, and was cancelled after that, but even to this day it stands as a testament to what superhero shows could’ve (and would eventually have) been. In fact, the 1990’s show actually inspired some of the crew behind the current Flash series on the CW, so much so that they brought back some of the original cast members to the show. This includes John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen’s father, and Mark Hamill as The Trickster. This is a role that would actually help get cast as The Joker in numerous media, such as Batman: The Animated Series.
Why mention all this you ask? Well, the CW’s online station, CW Seed, now has all 22-episodes of the original Flash series for you to watch, for free. You The entire series is available to watch here. This’ll no doubt help tide over fans until the second season of CW’s The Flash returns on Oct. 8th.
