Patrick Stewart Discusses Potential Return for Jean-Luc Picard
The old adage that “nothing is sacred anymore” can honestly apply to many things happening in TV and movies today. Instead of hashing out new and fresh ideas, it seems as though Hollywood is content with reboots, revisits, and modern day versions of classic shows. Some of these work. Others though only do decent, or don’t do well at all. With the reboot of Star Trek films, the third of which is being made now, and the upcoming 50th anniversary coming up, fans wonder if more Star Trek could be on the way, but not just from the original crew. Patrick Stewart, aka Jean-Luc Picard, from Star Trek: The Next Generation, sat down with IGN to talk about his new series Blunt Talk. However, the topic diverted to whether Jean-Luc Picard might ever been seen again on screen.
“It’s possible,” Stewart said of Jean-Luc’s return. “I think it’s unlikely. But it’s possible. The series wrapped over 25 years ago and we’ve got a rather elderly Captain Picard now. So I don’t know. It would be…it could be entertaining.”
He also joked that Seth McFarlane, who is a Star Trek fan, might be up for making it happen. Stewart’s new series, Blunt Talk, recently premiered on Starz.
