PC Patch For Batman: Arkham Knight Finally Releases
A patch for Batman: Arkham Knight has released for the PC and according to information from a leaked version that released earlier last week, it fixes most of the most common problems that made the highly anticipated title largely unplayable for many buyers. According to patch notes released on Steam, the update includes changes that include:
- Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
- Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
- More Comprehensive In-Game Settings
- Fixed low resolution texture bugs
- Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)
However, there are still some outstanding issues that have remained unfixed with the latest patch. Warner Bros. and Rocksteady are still working on getting the following problems solved in the coming weeks:
- Adding support for SLI and Crossfire
- Adding support for the latest DLC & Season Pass content
- Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode
- Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some NVIDIA GPUs during extended game play
- Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs
Neither the publisher or the developer have confirmed when the game will go back on sale though. It was pulled from sale on Steam and other online retailers following a wide range of complaints from players who argued that the port was a complete mess. Some of the biggest criticisms centered on the fact that the frame rate would drop significantly and frequently, textures would fail to load and that graphical features present in the console version were missing.
Most annoyingly, these issues were not affecting the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the game, leading many to assume that external developer Galaxy Studios was to blame for the bad experience as they were primarily responsible for the PC port.
