Phil Spencer Hints at New Release Date for Quantum Break at Gamescom
Microsoft Studios, Xbox and Remedy Entertainment have been generally silent regarding Quantum Break as of late. The project was first announced to the public back in May 2013. The game has gone through constant delays. It was originally supposed to be released in 2014. Then it was pushed back to 2016 earlier this year. So it has been radio silence on the status of the game since April. However, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed on Twitter that the upcoming Xbox One exclusive might finally get a new, firm release date later this week on Tuesday.
When asked by a fan if there will finally be a firm release date for Quantum Break at Gamescom 2015, Spencer replied, “You’ll see on Tuesday. I think you’ll be happy.”
The wait for the game has been exceptionally long. The game was planned to roll out alongside a live-action TV series. According to Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake, the show would be a top-of-the-line action TV series that would follow the villains of the video game, Paul Serene and the Monarch Corporation. However, the release details for the show have not been mapped out, and there is no word on if the show is even still happening or not.
Microsoft’s media briefing at Gamescom 2015 is set for Tuesday, August 4. Quantum Break will be released some time in 2016 for the Xbox One.
