Pokemon Trading Card Game Online now available for iPad
The Pokemon Trading Card Game is now available worldwide to download. The game, which is an online version of the classic card game that has enticed children for years, can be downloaded from the App Store right now. However, it is currently only available for iPad and Nintendo have not yet stated whether they have plans to bring the title to other mobile devices in the future.
Much like its physical counterpart, the Pokemon Trading Card Game sees players building decks of collectible cards through booster packs and trading before battling both A.I. and human players. Players can also buy additional booster packs by purchasing Gems using real-life currency. The game has been available for PC and Mac for several years and has grown in popularity thanks to the ever growing list of features and improvements.
“The iPad version of the Pokémon TCG Online makes it even easier for fans to pick up the game and begin playing immediately,” said Pokemon Company director J.C. Smith “We want to provide players with various access points to play and enjoy the Pokémon TCG, whether it’s the traditional tabletop game, PC and Mac version, or the iPad and iPad Mini app.”
Nintendo is not the only company looking to expand their trading card game into the world of mobile devices. Blizzard are currently working on bringing Hearthstone to Android and iPhone in the near future to reach the huge mobile market. The game is already available for iOS through the iPad but a release on other tablets and smartphones should happen before the end of 2014.
Card games are some of the most popular genres available on mobile devices, mainly due to the fact that such hardware is well suited for trading and battling cards. With such large audiences available it’s no surprise that bigger publishers and developers are looking bring their PC games to iOS and Android – especially considering that players on smartphones and tablets are some of the biggest spenders on free-to-play games that feature microtransactions.
