SDCC 2016: Marvel Adds Acclaimed Writer For New Book
Marvel has added yet another acclaimed writer to write a very special book in their universe. Black Panther: World of Wakanda will be written by Roxane Gay, who is believed to be the first black female writer in the brands history according to the New York Times.
“Black Panther: World of Wakanda,” which is set debut in November, aims to focus on the larger world of the Coates-written “Black Panther” series, with the initial arc starring Ayo and Aneka — the former Dora Milaje who are now known as The Midnight Angels. The story will serve as something of a prequel, showing how the two went rogue — and fell in love with each other.
“It’s the most bizarre thing I’ve ever done, and I mean that in the best possible way,” Gay told The New York Times. “The opportunity to write black women and queer black women into the Marvel Universe, there’s no saying no to that.”
