Six Actors Among Final Selection For Spider-Man, Selection To Happen Soon
It’s been a point of great debate as to who the new Spider-Man should be, especially with that actor now being in both Sony and Marvel films. Well now, The Hollywood Reporter has given the list of the final six actors that Marvel actually flew down to test this past Saturday for the role of Peter Parker.
The finalists were: Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game, Hugo); Tom Holland (The Impossible); Judah Lewis (seen in this fall’s Demolition); Matthew Lintz (Pixels); Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire); and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society).
Asa Butterfield has been the frontrunner for awhile, but it’s clear Marvel doesn’t want to rush to anything, probably due to the importance of the role and the fan backlash should the choice be poor. THR also noted:
“The actors were flown to Atlanta for the tests; that is where Marvel is currently in production on Civil War, the movie in which the character will be introduced before going on to headline his own hopeful trilogy that will be made by Sony Pictures.”
Finally, it’s being said that we could find out as early as later this week who will get the role. This will likely be so that things are wrapped up so the actor can suit up and film his spot in Civil War.
