One thing many people can agree on with the DCEU is that they’re casting many actors and actresses that mainstream audiences may not know. From Henry Cavill as Superman, Ezra Miller as Flash, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. For the latter especially, many do not know him as he was mainly a Broadway actor. Fisher spoke with ComicBook.com about how he got the role of the robotic hero: “I was in a play off Broadway playing Muhammad Ali at the New York Theater Workshop about three years ago now. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is still very divisive among fans and critics. Almost to a shocking degree. As some still proclaim how great it is, and others still note how bad it is. For many of the detractors, one of the main reasons its bad is because of the portrayal of Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg. This version was portrayed as a younger, more psychotic version, rather than the calm, collected version fans are used to in some aspects. Also though, they’re not entirely sure why Lex created Doomsday, the “real” villain of the film. At the London premiere, IGN asked Eisenberg about what Lex was thinking about when making Doomsday: “I think Lex becomes increasingly unhinged throughout the movie” he explained. “I also think he’s a guy who has 40 back-up plans and so when one thing doesn’t work out he has another and if that doesn’t work out he has another, which is why I think he never feels that threatened by Superman and Batman

One of which being the retelling (again) of the “origin” of Batman via the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne. In an interview with Forbes, Zack Snyder revealed his reasoning for the scene at the beginning of hte film: “You know, they’re both born and live in a world where someone can care about them and mourn them, and they can love their mother. Despite early bad reviews from critics, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has pulled of one of the biggest openings in movie history both globally and domestically. In the US, the film pulled off an amazing $170.1 million. Which is only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, the two Avengers films, and Iron Man 3. It beat all previous DC Comics movie openings, including the Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel. Globally, the film made an astounding $424 million, making it the biggest superhero movie debut of all time, and 4th all time in global openings. With only The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 doing better. This achievement will no doubt give a boost to the DC Comics Extended Universe, many of which were teased in Batman V Superman. Since Man of Steel, many have wondered if the DC Comics movie universe would all be similar in their tone, I.E. dark and gritty. As more and more interviews and trailers for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice appear, we get to see more and more of the characters and the decisions that lead up to this epic clash of titans. In an interview with Empire, producer Chris Roven revealed that this might just be the darkest Batman we’ve ever seen on screen: “[Batman] is not giving people a chance,” explains producer Charles Roven. “He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.” The reason for this much darker turn is simply because he’s been in this “business” for a long time, which again is something unique for the character on screen.
