Halo Wars 2 Has No Competitive Ranking In Multiplayer
Halo Wars 2, which launches today on Windows 10 and Xbox One, has no competitive ranking system for its multiplayer component. Instead, players with only have the opportunity to play in social and unranked playlists online. According to an official post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries and Creative Assembly have omitted any ranked multiplayer until they can better balance the game. Executive Producer David Nicholson explained that despite the betas Microsoft ran for the game, they were concerned about balancing issues that could make ranked playlists one-sided. “We decided not to do it at launch because we want to make sure the balance is there,” Nicholson said. “We think we’ve got the game well-balanced, with the two betas we had. But we continually make those balance changes. Our plan is to bring it out, but just not at launch.” Sticking with gametypes that have don’t include a rank also means that players will be more likely to jump into the online component – or at least that is the hope.
