Call Of Duty Is Skipping 2023

Call of Duty fans, breathe easy — you WILL be getting a new game in the series this year. After that, though… Bloomberg reports that for the first time in nearly twenty years, the Call of Duty franchise will not release a game on an annual schedule. Instead, the series will go dormant for 2023, though we’re sure they’ll make up the difference by loading whatever game comes next with lots of DLC material. “Games as a service” and all that. So why skip a year? Does it have something to do with the Microsoft buyout? No, not really — the takeover hasn’t been finalized yet; Activision is still technically independent. According to Bloomberg it has more to do with the last game released, 2021’s Call Of Duty Vanguard, not performing to sales expectations. There are rumblings from the top that the series is perhaps coming out too frequently and a more sparse release schedule could bring the numbers back up. We don’t know much about the 2022 game that

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Makes Surprise PS4 Appearance

The stories started spreading yesterday….somehow, footage of a remastered edition of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was showing up all over YouTube. It wasn’t just one user, or one video…many folks seemed to have access to it. There had definitely been a leak, and now the game’s existence was undeniable, but when would it be officially revealed? We didn’t have to wait long. Within hours, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered became publicly available on Playstation 4. Converted by dev studio Beenox, MW2’s campaign has been reborn with a modern graphical paint job. The levels, originally designed by Infinity Ward, are the same. We should point out that this is JUST the campaign mode…for reasons unclear to us, the multiplayer isn’t part of it. Currently, Sony holds the exclusive to Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, but that will change. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Crossplay Beta Begins Today

First the PS4 got an open beta for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare….then the XBox….now the time has come at last to test them all at once. This includes the PC, which hasn’t had an open beta yet. They’ll all going live later today when the Crossplay Beta kicks off for Modern Warfare. Here are the rules: you must have a COD account (duh). You can opt out of crossplay if you desire. To prevent anyone from having an unfair advantage, those crossplaying with other versions of the game must be using the same types of controls. That means if you’re playing on PC with a keyboard and mouse, you will only be permitted to play with those who are using keyboard/mouse controls on PS4 and XBox One (far less likely, but not impossible). If you completely balk at this rule, there IS a lobby just for people who don’t want control filters. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2v2 Alpha Now Live

Activision and Infinity Ward are now testing out the 2v2 mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer. The alpha is now live and can be enjoyed for the next two days. And as a twist to how Activision normally does things, you DON’T need a preorder, an extra purchase, or have to grease their palms in any other way to download this alpha. If you have a Playstation 4, you’ve met the only requirement. You don’t even need a PS Plus subscription! (except in Germany, due to regulations) The official name of the mode is Gunfight, and it’s a quick round-based mode where your only objective is to eliminate the opposing team. When we say quick, we mean “Bounty paper towel commercial quick” — each round lasts just 40 seconds, though there can be a 10-second overtime if neither team is ahead. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Test Dates Announced

Today Infinity Ward blew the curtain off the multiplayer mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the reboot heading to consoles and the PC this fall. They showed off the mode in a livestream captured on Twitch this morning (might as well watch it — it’s not like you’re gonna watch Ninja). But they revealed more than that….they told us when the mode will first become playable outside the studio. The beta sessions are on their way! The first one will be a Playstation 4 exclusive, running from September 12 through September 16. The first two days will be reserved for those with preorders, while the final three will be open to all. The second beta test is meant to demo the crossplay, and will be functional across Playstation 4, XBox One and the PC. It begins September 19, and once again, the first two days are just for people who already gave Activision money (wonder why that is). Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Multiplayer Reveal Due This Friday

Activision and Infinity Ward have revealed that all the details about Call of Duty, Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer experience will be released in a video set to be released this Friday. The trailer will be shown during the Call of Duty XP fan event this weekend and will be livestreamed as part of the celebration. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the latest entry in the long running and incredibly popular shooter franchise that has dominated the charts for some time. It was first announced in 2015 but actually began development in 2014 following a new schedule that sees Infinity Ward only releasing a game every three years rather than every two. Unlike many of the other instalments in the series, Infinite Warfare takes place in the far future. The setting sees players battling to keep control of the Solar System from a hostile force. Certain Limited Edition versions of the game come with a remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that has been developed by Raven Software.

It’s not uncommon for developers to leave one studio for another, but it can be when the one they’re leaving just had a successful game under their guidance. Such is the case with Brian Horton of Crystal Dynamics, who has been revealed to have left the studio of which he was game director for the recent Rise of the Tomb Raider. “It’s been a huge honor to be a part of the Tomb Raider franchise and the team at Crystal Dynamics,” shared Horton via a post on Tumblr. “I’ve met fans from all over the world, both in person and online, to share in our love for the franchise and Lara Croft. After working on two amazing games, my family and I have decided to return to Southern California and start a new adventure. Ex-Infinity Ward employees working on virtual reality FPS

Reload Studios, a development team made up of ex-members of the Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward, is working on a first-person shooter for virtual reality devices. The company’s official site reveals more information about the studio and what exactly they are working on. The team lists a number of high-profile staff members such as James Chung, Taehoon Oh, Pete Blumel and Nik Ranieri. In a press release on their site, they explain that they are working on a virtual reality game because of the potential of VR devices and are excited about how the medium will move forward in the future. They also state that they will work on titles for other platforms, such as smartphones and consoles. “When I first saw what the latest round of VR devices could do, I realized these were not just peripherals but brand new platforms that could transform the way we experience, interact with and create media. Call of Duty Ghosts – Invasion DLC Revealed

Activision and Infinity Ward have today announced and revealed details for the third expansion pack for the hugely popular Call of Duty: Ghosts. Invasion DLC, as you’ll see in the teaser trailer below, will offer 4 new maps – Favela, Mutiny, Departed and Pharaoah. Favela looks a lot like the map with the same name from a previous Call of Duty game – Modern Warfare 2, which was widely considered as one of the best maps from MW2 – it could well be the same map or an updated/amended version of the same map. Pharaoah is as the name suggests and set in an Egyptian setting, with some large destructible scenery. The other maps also includes skeletons and pirates. One of the noticeable things from the Invasion trailer is that Infinity Ward seem to have aimed specifically for fun rather than hyper-realistic settings, which will always be an appreciated choice with gamers. Cancelled Call of Duty Game Was Third-Person Shooter

Talking to Game Informer Sledgehammer co-studio head Glen Schofield revealed that the developer was working on a third-person shooter version of Call of Duty. According to Schofield the game was set in Vietnam and would have featured players having to adapt to the battlefield and overcome a number of obstacles. Using experience from his working at Visceral Games, along with the other co-studio head Michael Condrey, the team was aiming to create a chilling atmosphere with a treacherous environment. Both of the studio heads had worked on EA’s Dead Space and wanted to incorporate elements of that series into the new Call of Duty game. “We had the underground tunnels, we were definitely getting some Dead Space moments. I don’t mean that from sci-fi, I mean that was a war that was scary for the troops. They didn’t know if in the jungle there was a booby trap, or what was in those tunnels. Activision Releases Call of Duty: Ghosts “Onslaught” DLC For XB360 and XBOne

And yes, it features the same Michael Myers as in the original John Carpenter Halloween series. For my feelings on the original Call of Duty: Ghosts, I wrote a review on one of Bilateral Warp’s sister sites. “Onslaught” adds four new maps (“Fog”, “Bayview”, “Contingent”, and “Ignition”) and adds a new chapter to the “Extinction” mode, as well as the new weapon “Maverick”, which is best described as a combination of a sniper rifle and an assault rifle. The real kicker though, is the Easter Egg in the new map “Fog”. In this new map, the player can wind up transforming into Michael Myers, which cues the famous “Halloween” theme and basically runs amok. With extra health and an ax, what else do you need, right? The “Extinction” mode gets an “Episode One” release, which essentially means we’ll now have an explanation for why the aliens are here and how they have decimated humanity.
