It seems that people just can’t see to get enough of Pokemon. Despite the first entry arriving in 1996, the 18-year-old franchise is still going strong with the recent release of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire having broken the record for the biggest launch of any Pokemon game in the UK. According to Eurogamer, the sales for the two games have beaten the previous record set by Pokemon X and Y by an impressive 17%. Omega Ruby made it to sixth in the UK charts while its sister game Alpha Sapphire made it to seventh overall. The Pokemon games were only beaten by Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Grand Theft Auto 5. Nintendo has released a new trailer for the upcoming 3DS games Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, the remakes of the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. The short video revealed a new Mega Evolution, showcased redesigned gym leaders, revealed a unique Pikachu Pokémon Amie  and provided a glimpse at the return of Secret Bases. The trailer mainly highlighted the redesigned gyms and leaders from the Hoenn region, which have all been updated to match the 3D visuals of the Sixth-Gen Pokémon games. However, the trailer also showcased a short clip full of Pikachus dressed in a variety of costumes, called “Cosplay Pikachu”, which players will be able to encounter in possible connection to Pokémon contests. Finally, the trailer also revealed the return of secret bases, customizable rooms from which players can design and fill with trophies. Nintendo announced the launch of  Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire which is set to be released on Nov. 2014 much like their previous installments Pokémon X and Y. Along with the announcement Nintendo released a short teaser trailer which featured redesigned box art highly reminiscent to the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire but now hosting the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire monikers. Details are incredibly sparse regarding the new game, other than this short sentence from an official press release describing their new direction with the game: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are a fresh take on Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, which launched in 2003 and were fan-favorite hits on the Game Boy Advance system. The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world.
